1. HOLI

Holi is the festival of color and it’s a very unique way to celebrate the festival. Holi is in the month of March. People all around India eagerly wait for the festival and the excitement Level are very high. People celebrate Holi with their family and friends which gives the feeling of togetherness among the people. Holi is mainly celebrated in the Northern parts of India. Holi Festival is one of the most popular festivals of India in which people from all around the world to come to witness the festival and be a part of it. Holi has been so popular that Western countries are adopting the concept of celebrating the festival of color.

Holi is celebrated for 2 days in India. On the First day, at the night the Holika Dahan is done. In which loge of wood is been light on fire to get rid of the evil and it shows the win of good over evil also. On the second day, the children and youth start holi celebration early morning because of the excitement. People, then put color on each other and splash water on each other. Children throw a water balloon on others. The madness is on the top at the time of Holi.

People wear Traditional new clothes, make rangolis outside their houses, shop for different things, Light up the diya, Burn firecrackers decorates their house with lights and make some delicious food.

Everywhere the houses, markets, malls are decorated in the spirit of Diwali festival. The Diwali festival simplifies the victory of Dark over the evil. The candles are placed in every corner so that they can light up the darkness. Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Hindus also do some Rituals like doing Puja of Goddess Lakshmi which is known as the god of wealth and also God Ganesh which is known as the god of sagacity. This puja is done to bring prosperity in the coming years. Diwali celebration is continuous for five days.

Dussehra is the Festival which is celebrated because it symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Dussehra is celebrated on the 9th day which is the last day of Navratri. In Dussehra festival, the statue of evil Ravan is burned which symbolized the victory good, which strengthens people to choose the path of good over evil. At night time the Dussehra is been celebrated.

Dussehra in North India- It is generally for igniting the statue of Ravan, Meghanatha, and Kumbhakarna with fire. There is also the display of the story of Ramayan.

Dussehra in South India- In South India people celebrate Dussehra by decorating their toys and Dolls for that day. This is known as Gombe Habba in South India. Earlier Dussehra was celebrated by Rich and well to do people but not it is celebrated by everyone.

4. Navratri

Navaratri is celebrated two times in India.One in April and other in October. It is celebrated to worship the Goddess Durga. Many people do fast(does eat) on that day. The Statues of Goddess Durga is kept in a pandal(tents) and the Pandal is decorated in the most amazing way possible. It is intensely celebrated in April in West Bengal.

The Navratri celebration in October continuous for 5 days and at the end of the 5th day, Dussehra is celebrated. Navratri is celebrated hugely in the Northern States of India like Gujrat and Rajasthan in October. In Navratri people dance Garba form at night with there traditional dresses with lots of excitement.
